• Make use of the cloud flexibility
  • Reduce VM size to what's required as it is easy to increase.
  • Stop VM's when not in use, e.g. after hour's and weekends
• Use spot instances for certain loads
  • Spot is spare capacity cloud providers rent out cheaply but can reclaim at short notice when they have a shortage for full paying customers e.g. during DC outage.
